Pay for Play

Terry Fox Public School in Cobourg is on a mission to raise funds to build a new playground. The old playground was removed early in the pandemic with a small set of monkey bars left behind next to a now empty pit of gravel.  Terry Fox's school community council has a subcommittee dedicated to raising the $120,000 needed to build a new playground and as of the end of February they have raised 20% of their goal.  100% of the funds must come from the community through donations or fundraising efforts, the school board does not provide any financial support, however the school board does have a significant list of requirements for school playgrounds, including the school to pay a regular fee to have one of their employees inspect them on a yearly basis.

Why a New Playground? Inclusivity. Physical Activity. Social Interaction. Educational Opportunities.
