Women of Downtown
The number of businesses owned by women in Canada is increasing, according to a new study. According to the 2023 State of Women's Entrepreneurship in Canada report by the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub, there has been an increase in the proportion of businesses owned by women. The study suggests that 18% of businesses are now owned primarily by women, compared to 16.8% in 2020 and 15.6% in 2017.
In the downtown core of Cobourg alone, 47% of businesses are owned and/ or run by women.
