Strides for Caregivers

  • Victoria Park 138 Division Street Cobourg, ON, K9A 3P3 Canada (map)

We are looking forward to having you join us for a family friendly event for a great cause! Includes fun activities for kids, snacks and a group walk on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Our event will kick off at 10:00 am at Victoria Park - 138 Division St. in Cobourg, ON.

Together we will walk together in solidarity with the 1 in 4 Canadians who is a family caregiver, as we raise awareness and funds for the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation.

Support Our Walk

All money raised through this walk will go directly towards funding vital programs and resources for family caregivers in our community.

The Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation supports registered charities who support family caregivers, including those in our local area:

Circle of Home Care Services: Funding will go towards a family caregiver support group and a couple's caregiver support group. These groups offer caring and practical support, connecting caregivers with others in similar positions, while providing resources, coping strategies, and discussions on common issues and tough feelings.

Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care: Funding will support the recent addition of a Social Worker/Case Worker to Emily’s House pediatric palliative care team, who will work with parent caregivers and child siblings affected by a pediatric palliative care trajectory. Using methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and facilitated relationship mediation, the social worker addresses the unique needs of each family member.

Kids up Front Foundation: Funding supports the Wishes for Kids program which provides family caregivers in need with funds to fulfill wish list items for children and youth in their care. This initiative empowers recipients to express their preferences, ranging from familiar experiences to new adventures.

Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation: Funding will support the Family Caregiver Support Group, an in-person program that brings together family caregivers of a loved one with pancreatic cancer in a space where they can connect with others who are facing similar challenges and emotions that this diagnosis brings.

And so many more! This list is just a small snapshot of the types of programs we can fund thanks to your generous support.
