Kids aged 7-18 can submit their graphic novels any time between now and September 25th! 
 
Please indicate which category your work belongs to:
Ages 7-10, 11-13, or 14-18.
 
We will contact each age group's winner in October, and all entries will be shared with the community. See all the details below:
 
Submissions must be:
⦁    Drawn on paper OR created with computer software using 8.5" x 11" page format.  Original drawings only (please no AI-generated content). You can submit colour drawings but the library will publish the collected entries in black and white.

⦁    1 to 5 pages maximum, single-sided 

⦁    You are welcome to use a template if you prefer, and these are available for pickup at the library or contact alee@brightonlibrary.ca for a printable template

⦁    Your name must not appear anywhere on your finished work - this makes submitting an entry form so important: Paper copies must have the entry form filled and submitted with the entry. Digital copies must have the entry information included (full name, contact info, age category and the graphic novel's title) in the body of the email with the subject line “BPL Graphic Novel entry”

⦁    Paper copies can be submitted at either branch. Digital copies (PDF, JPG, PNG) can be submitted to    alee@brightonlibrary.ca

What entries qualify:
While the contest is called Graphic Novel contest, entries do not have to be a graphic novel. All entries that combine images and text qualify:

⦁    Graphic novel - Authors create the text and illustrations
⦁    Comic - two or more cartoon pictures appear in a sequence. The pictures are usually combined with words.
⦁    Graphic poetry - words that create an image. Illustrations are optional
⦁    Manga - the pictures and text on each page are read from right to left, and the reader moves from page to page in right-to-left fashion as well
