Blacksmith Workshop

  • 82 Main Street Warkworth, ON, K0K 3K0 Canada (map)

Over five days of intensive instruction, you will gain new skills and discover ancient ways of working with metal, giving you the power to create tools, hardware or artwork, and to transform the excess of the modern world into objects of lasting value.

Much more than just a blacksmithing-for-beginners course, students will find a new, deep connection to metal, nature, and the technological world around them.

A life-changing experience

Learn to forge, shape and weld iron and steel; learn to make and use tools for working metal, wood and stone; transform rusting scrap into gleaming artwork, developing your natural creativity as you learn to see the world from an artisan's perspective.

The knowledge gained will lay a strong foundation for future study and practical use. This course includes all of the material in the Blacksmith I and II courses plus much more, including:

  • Tools for working wood, metal or stone

  • Repairing modern objects with ancient techniques

  • Hardware and fasteners

  • Fire Tools

  • Identifying and re-purposing scrap metal

  • Making charcoal – clean, sustainable fuel

  • Essential metallurgy

  • Pre-industrial iron smelting

No experience required. Class runs 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

All tools, materials, safety equipment, as well as lunch and hydration provided.
