3rd Annual Cobourg Jane's Walk

Jane’s Walk Cobourg returns for its third year on Saturday, May 4 with four great walks. They’ll happen rain or shine and each one will last about an hour. No need to register, just show up! 9:30 am – Music in Motion Leader: SONG Artistic Director Lucas Marchand Meet at Rotary Park Join Lucas for a unique Jane's Walk that intertwines the rhythms of drumming and the melodies of singing with the exploration of our vibrant community. Music in Motion invites participants to express themselves through the universal language of music while taking in the beauty of Cobourg’s town center. As we stroll through the streets, we'll raise our voices and make some noise just for the joy of it. Feel free to bring your own drum! 11 am – Heritage Tree Tour of East Cobourg Leaders: Gina Brouwer, Landscape Architect, Arborist and U of T Masters of Forest Conservation; Eddie Cork, Town of Cobourg Arborist Meet at Merwin Greer School, 457 King St. E. Gina and Eddie will share their deep knowledge of the urban forest and highlight some significant trees and a diversity of species in the east end of Cobourg, including the mature oak-beech forest south of Merwin Greer School that should be bursting with spring ephemerals. Accessibility: Some uneven terrain through the forest and park trails. 1 pm – Ecology of the West Beach Leader: Dora Body, past chair of the Cobourg Ecology Garden Meet at the Ecology Garden Gazebo We’ll start our stroll at the east end of the Cobourg Ecology Garden and learn about the history of the area. As we head west toward Bagot Street on the boardwalk, we’ll turn our aOention to the ecology of the West Beach and the possible changes in the school track area. Finally, on our way back to Hibernia Street, we’ll learn about the community impact of the Ecology Garden. Accessibility: Family-friendly; dog-friendly; the Ecology Garden and Boardwalk are accessible and have some seating; the West Beach is sandy and uneven. 3 pm – Film and TV in Cobourg Leader: Producer and Director Mark Johnston Meet at Victoria Hall You’ve seen the crews for Ginny and Georgia and Murdoch Mysteries around town, but Cobourg has a film legacy that goes way beyond those shows.
